La Palma & El Hierro & Tenerife

In November 2018, I was invited to go to the Canary Islands for a press trip and I could bring Johan with me, yay! Getting some sun and warmth in November made the winter feel so much shorter. It was like as if the islands stayed in the system for months. These pictures are from the island La Palma.

The first thing we did was to go to a cafรฉ on the coast to have a coffee and chat with our driver Emma.

I’ve said it before – this soda brand never looks as good as when it’s sunbleached in a hot climate. We had a quick coffee here before heading to the most important thing when I’m abroad – the supermarket.

Got cheap beer, smoke goats cheese, some ham, yeah if you can read this, you can also see the picture. Do I need to tell you that the local grown bananas were out of this world? Even Johan, who hates bananas, ate one.

In the evening, we had dinner at a salt works (don’t know if that’s the correct word, salinas in Spanish) where we had different flavoured salts. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.

The next day it was raining, I loved it.

We went to Santa Cruz de Palma, heard there was beautiful architecture over there, so I took a lot of pictures with the disposable camera I had brought (all these pictures are from disposable cameras), but it was too dark, so the pictures were kind of crap.

This one turned out visible.

A taste of the architecture, a bit like how I imagine Cuba.

Bam, we went to El Hierro the next day! Dear lord of pineapples, I was completely blown away by this island. Not touristy at all, everything was far away so you definitely needed a car. Sabine was showing us around.

The pinapple farm, this was a gift for us and I couldn’t stop eating. Tastiest pineapple ever, I don’t think I bought a single one from the supermarket here since then.

The water. We also went snorkling one day, I’m grateful I’m a good swimmer (thanks mum who took me to the public swimmingpool twice a week) cause it was a real struggle for someone else in those waves.

A picture from a vineyard in the mountains. I only brought two disposable cameras, so there aren’t many pictures. Took one million with my phone though, do you want to see more from the Canary Islands? If yes, I’ll dig through the archives. Just let me know, cause right now it feels a bit like I’m just talking to myself here ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, he’s 2.5m tall.

Our flight back home was from Tenerife, so we made a pitstop in La Laguna for breakfast, a walk, supermarket of course and some cheese & ham. I hope to one day visit these places again, thanks for having us.

Yes, as those before me said! I really enjoy your posts.. Keep ’em coming. I’ve never felt confident enough to comment on blog posts (why would I, complete stranger comment?), but I enjoy your posts very much. I’ve been reading your blog for 10 years now, I think… You’ve kept the old style blog format that is way better than these new ones.
So, no, your not talking to your self ๐Ÿ™‚
I secretly read blogs at work on my break, and they make my day every time ๐Ÿ˜€
    Greetings from Banjaluka, Bosnia!
