Week 1

January 4, I walked Allison and Charley to their studio and celebrated 10 years living in this wonderful wonderful city and was so happy it was a gloomy, foggy, snowy, brutal day – like it was when we moved here, but it was much colder in 2011. Back then it was a bit of work to figure out how to heat in an efficient way with the coal. People were saying You will get so tired of it that you’ll move soon. No. I don’t mind getting up in the middle of the night and throw in some black briquettes (I know it’s not good for the environment, but I don’t own this place).

Sad snowmen all over the place.

How is it where you live? Many dog owners have stopped picking up their dog’s poop as there are so few people being out at night, come on! I have almost never stepped in shit before and now all focus has to be on the ground while taking walks.

Hi, my name is Ed, I moved to Berlin to make a career in roasting coffee beans.

Do you like January?

Johan made gyros.

And I went around the hood, my morning round is only 2 kilometers, but it’s an OK “walk to work”.

I made tzatziki (1 liter greek yogurt, 1 cucumber, 5-6 cloves of garlic, olive oil & salt, sometimes dill). On Saturday I was up before Boxi was even set for the farmers market.

Went home to work and eat this cottage cheese-sundried tomato-basil-crispbread. Went to Boxi with Fiona and Peps and all of a sudden the black lady was barking at another dog.

It was Charley! Sunday was sharing a pizza with the blonde man at a table with the owl cave symbol (Twin Peaks nerds know what I’m talking about – are you a TP nerd? I’ve seen the series at least 25 times).

A pizza from a pretty new place, thought I’d try although my expectations were very low – I don’t trust places with Pizza Hawaii on their menu. It was actually decent, have to go back for a Napoli on a hangover day in the future.

Had a stroll in the Oberbaum City before going home. It was a good start of our 11th year living and loving here.

Did you watch anything good lately? I’m looking for something to bingewatch while making Wrist Worms. Seen so many series this season that I can’t remember some of them.

    Annika

Way too hot for me down here in Sydney. 40 degrees on Tuesday, but today is cold and rainy. Can’t wait until Berlin can be visited again- I was reading about Anoha which looks amazing!
