Hello there, Monday & Charley date. I also put Wrist Worms on sale with code WEEK5 (20% off). It’s will be valid for a few more days as I don’t have much of another income at the moment.
Sometimes I get so tired of the food I make and am so happy you can get a halloumi sandwich for 3€ and eat on the street! This was my monday evening and when I came home, Johan and I watched Wallace & Gromit. Feathers McGraw is the picture of evil. I scream when I watch The Wrong Trousers, acting like a football supporter at a huge game when the wrong team scores.
So this is the most disgusting thing I have ever cooked. Johan said he could hardly finish it, I agree. His sweet&sour-christmassy-spiced-pickled celery combined with my coriander oil. I’m usually very good at combining flavours, at least the colours look nice.
We went to Potsdam by car, to take press pictures of Sumo Light’s Sumo Sky.
Got stuck in traffic in Neukölln, it would have been faster to walk home, but the rain was pouring. I edited pictures the next morning and lit candles. Have received a few DMs on instagram from people wondering why I light candles in the morning. Growing up in a place where it’s daylight between 10pm-1am around christmas, it’s a completely normal thing to do.
We want to eat out and drink wine! Eating out means eating outdoors these days. I don’t mind stuffing my face with a (in this case köfte/halloumi sandwich) in the cold. As long as we don’t have every meal inside of our flat.
Cheap kiosk wine and the next day CLiT had tagged our house, taking over the whole neighbourhood (if you live in Berlin – is CLiT all over your Kiez, too?). Like my neighbour Ana said, at least for once it’s not penises.
I made up for the most disgusting meal in over 15 years by making something mapo tofu inspired, but I used canned mushrooms instead. I LOVE canned mushrooms and haven’t heard many people saying the like them, so I made a poll on my instagram. 49% said they like them, 51% not, such a surprise. When I was in Italy in 2019, I was super happy to be served pizza with canned mushrooms, every single one.
Found Johan’s Haargummi (don’t know the english word, but since you can see what it is, I don’t bother to google). I always find his stuff everwhere. I went out to get a Guinness, every February 5 we drink Guinness, it’s the day Johan bought me my first one (in 2005) and that’s the evening I fell in love with him. You can read the story about how we met here.
Saturday Charley came by with cake, I’m so happy to have friends who pass by and spontaneously come up for a while to have coffee. The pandemic has made me even less social than before, have almost only been hanging out with Charley & co. It’s like there’s not more space in my head to take in more people than that. Advertising/Gifted: In the evening, Bonvivant came by with their valentine’s day cocktail box, such a good composition of drinks. Thank you, Bonvivant! We drank them all and my favourite was The Aviation, of course. I love everything that tastes and smells of violet.
Sunday morning, I got up early (no hungover, just very dehydrated) and found those thrones. Called and texted Johan to come pick them up, but he was sleeping. Luckily someone else I know was awake andmanaged to snatch one of them for herself, yay! What a great find, they were super comfy.
It’s colder than in many years here now. Last night we went out in -9°C to have food on the street (I had a falafel/hallomi sandwhich, one of the tastiest I ever had – it was from Salsabil at Grünberger Strasse). The snowflakes were huge and I was so amazed that I sat down to look at them and people stopped to see if I had found gold.
How are you doing? How has the pandemic affected you so far?
