Hi, here are some of my favourite buildings in the neighbourhood & in Victoriastadt/Kaskelkiez/Lichtenberg, whatever you call it. I say Victoriastadt.

Most of our neighbourhood looked like this when the wall came down. I hope some of them will be under a preservation order. It’s too sad to see all of them being renovated with a facade that looks like cardboard.

A squat at Wartenbergstrasse.

This building is empty. Hope someone will renovate it gently.

What I love about Victoriastadt is that there are some buildings that are one level lower than the standard Berlin buildings. Reminds a bit about Potsdam, a town outside of Berlin.
Have been in kind of a haze lately, one thing which helped me coming out of it was reading My year of rest and relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh & The artist’s way by Julia Cameron. I’m definitely going to start writing morning pages, have you heard about it? Are you doing it?
Wish you all a relaxed weekend whatever you’re up to. To me relaxed means both reading a book and partying with friends. This weekend it’s all about home, food, books. A follower on instagram recommended Stern 111 which I bought last week. Did you know that I have almost never read a book in English? Reading in German (and Swedish obviously) was always easier, but will make a try again as I speak English every day since moving here. Stern 111 is in German though, not sure if it’s been translated to other language yet.
What are you reading?

February 28, 2021 at 1:20 amI LOVED “My Year of Rest and Relaxation”! I don’t know why, but it was mesmerizing. It’s a book that’s hard to explain to people who haven’t read it!

February 28, 2021 at 3:58 pmI must check out My year of R and R… I just finished Homegoing by Yaa Gayasi. And just started Why we love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows. Sobering. I daydream about winning the lottery and being able to spend the money to renovate old buildings to be energy efficient and healthy places to live and work, whether in cities or the country side. Why can;t Elon Musk get on board with this? We had a rare sunny day yesterday and walked all over downtown Edmonds, WA, saw a great exhibition here http://www.cascadiaartmuseum.org/exhibition/dreaming-forms-the-art-of-leo-kenney/.
