The kitchen windowsill, my favourite photostudio. This is where the pictures of Wrist Worms (more will be listed tonight, Sunday) are being photographed. Figs must be the best looking fruits, right? This picture is from today – look how sad the rose is in the picture from yesterday (below); when they start to fade I cut them and put them in tiny glasses and they’ll last a bit longer.

In 2014, Johan gave me this cookbook. It’s the most inspiring one I have, not that I cook from recipes very often, but this dish is from the book. Though I tweaked it (can’t help myself). It’s radicchio, potatoes, chickpeas, olive oil, s&p and in the original recipe balsamic vinegar (I used lemon juice) and parmesan cheese (I used pecorino) & added some dried thyme. Can imagine some fennel would be great too + some grilled fish.

    I would eat that salad!
Also, I used to have a next door neighbor who was from Sicily ( I think that helped!) and he grew several varieties of figs each summer. Some were in pots and some in the ground; some covered up for our winters and some were cold-hardy. His wife and kids did not like figs so after he had his fill he would share with us. Nothing compares with a delicious ripe fig. Yes, they are so beautiful!
