Had a brunch meeting earlier today, we totally forgot it was a meeting. Food was good though.

Anyone from Gothenburg still reading my blog? Making that veggie plate made me think of Café Java at Vasaplatsen where I hung out as a young adult eating toasted bagels with mozzarella, pesto, cucumber, tomato and red onion. There was smoke everywhere and I was afraid of the crowd cause most of the people looked so increcibly late-90s-alternative-cool. I did too, lol. These flavours always bring me back to 1999/2000.
Do you have a flavour/flavour combination that takes you back to earlier years?

November 6, 2022 at 4:03 pmOh, café Java! That brings back memories! But I don’t think we knew each other back then. And yes, this Gothenburgian is still reading your blog! 🙂

Do we know each other now? Maybe a rude question, but my memory isn’t what it used to be.

November 7, 2022 at 5:44 pmI waited tables in Minneapolis, MN USA out of college. It was an excellent Palestinian place called Abdul’s Afandy that served amazing food. I was a vegetarian then, so cannot comment on the meat dishes, but the flavors of sumac, olive and garlic take me back to those days. Shakshuka with garlicly hummous and pillowy pita. Garlicky tabbouli that is more parsley than bulgar. Charbroiled eggplant with unctious tahini. Arabic coffee with cardamom and pinch of sugar. YUM!
