11 years ago, we got married. We did it secretly, snuck off to Berlin and decided to have a day of doing what we love. Walking, eating, drinking coffee, walking more. Let’s have a look at some of the things we did:

After a stroll at the farmers market at Boxhagener Platz (little did we know that this would be our weekend tradition, we didn’t even know we would live in Berlin), we went to Schneeweiss for lunch with champagne.

After lunch, we had a quick tequila at Kaufbar (miss that café a lot). I wouldn’t drink tequila that early these days, but back then it worked well.

After tequila it was time for cupcakes on Krossener Strasse. Haven’t had one in years, the place still exists. Maybe we should have a celebratory cupcake today? Let’s see what the day brings, our plan is to go outside and see what pops up – just like on this day in 2009.

A tramride up to Prenzlauer Berg for a cup of coffee at Bonanza Coffee Heroes. Imagine that most of those place are still here, love it.

This place doesn’t exist anymore, something a lot of Berliners are sad about. Gentrification… biggest swear word ever.

Here I am at Wohnzimmer in Helmholtzplatz.

We had drinks and just sat there talking for a while.

A dog gave us a wedding present.

When the evening came, we went to Gorki Park on Weinbergsweg for some pelmeni, blini & beer. I guess we were exhausted afterwards and went back to the hotel in Scharnweberstrasse to sleep. A long and beautiful day with eachother and Berlin. Can’t wait to start our day of celebration, will bring my camera and show you later, right now I’m in the kitchen waiting for Johan to wake up and I have a feeling it’s going to take a while, someone needs to sleep in. I don’t, been sleeping way too much lately. Cheers!

May 9, 2020 at 10:48 amHey Sandra and Johan, congratulations! I like this kind of wedding, not crowded, not super expensive, but a memorable event. Not like everyone else’s wedding. And love most of the places that you have showed us (I’ve in some of them following your tips)
And, yes, go for a walk and see what pops up!
DISFRUTA! (means ENJOY in SPANISH)

May 10, 2020 at 4:31 pmHappy Anniversary! We also snuck off to be married… Otherwise it would probably not have happened! 26 years ago by a judge in Boulder Colorado between a robbery and a case of domestic violence… The judge thanked us for the break in routine and had us show him on a map where we were from. All the best for many more happy rambles together!
