Berlin / Food / Friedrichshain / Kreuzberg / Neukölln / Personal

11 years

C’mon, let’s go! Let’s celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. I brought the camera and we took the day as it came, starting with Boxi farmers market of course.

On our way there, I saw this bottle and started thinking about how Fanta was the drink I always chose as a kid, every other kid chose Coca Cola. They also chose chips/crisps and I prefered cheese snacks. It’s still the same – my friends want to go out for steaks, I want to go out for much lighter food. I never put on music I love at parties because I know the rest of the people won’t like it. So, I’m very happy that Johan and I share the same taste in food.

Boxi, what a glorious day to walk around in the city.

OK, I talked about lighter food. This is a Zucchinipuffer, like a zucchini/courgette burger. Sharing one is enough as it’s deep fried and delicious after some drinks the night before.

Goff goff.

Pitstop at home to dump some olives and salsiccia before heading over to Oberbaumbrücke and Kreuzberg.

A Berlin classic.

This is the view when you enter Kreuzberg from Friedrichshain. Love it.

Peony season, do you like peonies? In Gothenburg, I used to pick some from outside of our house. White, fat ones with an amazing scent which filled the whole (tiny) flat.

Good old Sandra picture, I try to accept that I don’t need to find new ways to take pictures and go with the flow and just speak my own language, it doesn’t have to be advanced.

When was it cool to take pictures of people from behind? 2012? I had one of the back of my head as profile picture on instagram. It looks so excluding and uninviting, doesn’t it? Maybe not this picture as his face shows, but you know what I mean.

Wiener Strasse in Kreuzberg is one of my favourite streets. Look at the flowers below the ceiling of the green house.

Entering gentrification land.

Sign of the time.

We were looking for coffee, but wanted pizza instead and there was this place we hadn’t yet tried, Gazzo. Love to share food with Johan, none of us are big eaters. Love good quality food, food coma is never a goal.

It started to get hot and time to drink lust for life; Club Mate. Always gives me a bit of extra happiness and inspiration for about half an hour.

Passed by this bar and see all the nicotine? I don’t miss hanging out in (especially smoky) bars at all, do you?

Hello, creep!

This part of Neukölln looks so good, love the different heights of the buildings which is much less common than the typical streets where the buildings are all the same height.

Passed by a bakery, never tried these. We were craving more savory stuff, though, so we didn’t try them.

Half a grilled chicken, lots of garlic sauce & hummus.

The beauty of Spring in Berlin.

After 30 000+ steps, we were exhausted. Brain fog deluxe, stumbled upon this place which served affogato and after having one each, heads were feeling clear again.

Walked home again, the skyline is changing rapidly. Berlin has always been a city of change, for better and for worse.

Beer break with this muppet. We had such a great day, just doing what we felt like in the moment – like 11 years ago. Had some indian food at home later in the evening, listened to a few songs and slept like puppies. Thanks for joining us on this day! Love.

[…] will be very special, Johan is taking a whole day off for the first time since this day. That’s 3 months ago. Time to embrace summer together; go for some high-quality coffee […]
