Johan, name a month and a year. September 2008. We lived in Gothenburg and had started our last year at HDK (University for Craft & Design). The 5th year had just started and we were excited. This is Bar Centro, one of our many favourite cafés.
Hanging out at Bengans with Camilla and Morran.
Johan made his Circus Lamp. Loved it.
We celebrated 3 years together with fresh seafood and bubbles. Omg I want.
Had our work stuff in the kitchen. Hated the red drawers and the fake wood desks…
…so a coffee and a plan.
Much better. My computer was new, how I loved that thing. The printer was also pretty new and lasted for 10 years. It looked like this in the kitchen for a year and then I moved to the studio where I mostly felt anxious about not being creative enough. Well, haven’t been creative enough according to myself since I moved to Berlin either. Need to make a big change for the sake of sanity.
This always made me happy when I passed by.
Sneezing or seeing a cute dog? Linnégatan is one of Gothenburg’s most beautiful streets.
This was on the other side of the street from where we lived in our tiny 34sqm one room apartment.
Stuff I had gotten or bought from other people on flickr. It was a wonderful time of community back then, before the extroverts started posting their selfies and took over all of instagram.
September 2008 was the month when Wrist Worms were born. I felt so amazingly inspired and never thought they would be such a success, I just made a pair for Johan and posted it on the blog and so many people wanted a pair too, wow!
Experimented with different yarns.
And made small calendars as a thank you to the buyers. Should make some again, right? Need some new illustrations first… Hmm…
Camilla moved to her new studio and we went to visit. Can’t believe how many years we’ve been friends.
Sharing a pizza at Da Marco in our neighbourhood.
And hanging out at Kafé Marmelad watching the trams pass by. I was crocheting and planning some other projects. I want to feel all this again, but in a new way. Need to create again.
A corridor at our university.
The afternoons of working turned into evenings of chilling and drinking beers together. Johan and our friend Sam from Finland.
Johan, Sam & I went to Marstrand, an island outside of Gothenburg.
We started making stories of what to do with this building, Turisthotellet. It was abandoned, one of the most beautiful buildings I had ever seen. I just did an online search and found out they tore it down last year, craziness!
Our Sunday tradition was to meet our friends on this boat and chat.
Drink bad coffee and talk all afternoon.
September 2008 was a great month, I don’t think I was being as much down/crazy/angry/sad as I usually was, but I’m not sure. It’s hard to know when looking at pictures, when being in the depressed state the camera isn’t something you think of picking up. Oh well, good news is that I have now increased my meds a lot and I feel even better, still can’t believe it works. Hope you are all doing well, is there anyone of you who remember any of these pictures?
