I have a friend called Allison. We know eachother since the flickr days and I remember her as this young artist drawing amazing creatures which I immediately fell in love with. It’s almost 15 years ago and she lived in the States, I lived in Sweden. She moved to Berlin in 2019 and last year we started talking about finally meeting in person. One day at the end of May I was sitting in a park drinking beer with friends and all of a sudden I hear someone say Sandra. I immediately understood it was Allison and the first thing I said was Where is your dog? Anyway, on Saturday I was finally able to go visit her studio to work together.
The studio is in this completely amazing old pictureframe factory, just look at those windows from the time it was built.
When she posted on her instagram that she got this studio, I was blown away because it looked so much like her place to be. You should see her (well, Gerrit’s & Charley’s, too) home by the way, every time I’m there I find new things to look at.
You all know her son Charley if you’re a regular on this blog. We worked our asses of for 8 hours before Charley & co came to help out and pick us up for Feierabend.
So excited to see us that he of course ran over the stuff on the floor.
Working together with other people has often been kind of a struggle for me, but with Allison it is something else – it’s like we speak the same language without talking. Sometimes we just move our hands and the other one immediately understands what it means. We can also be veeery loud.
